Meet Adam Cook

Adam moved to the Fredericksburg area at the age of six when his father, Mark Cook, moved the family from Southern California to found Calvary Chapel of Fredericksburg: a small, non-denominational church which was originally located on George Washington’s boyhood home in Ferry Farm. The oldest of six children, Adam attended Ferry Farm Elementary School and Fredericksburg Christian School, and was also home-schooled for several years by his mother, Michele.

Adam went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania and UCLA School of Law.

After serving briefly as the general counsel at a start-up aerospace company, Adam joined the US Air Force’s JAG Corps. During his six years on active duty, Adam served as a military prosecutor and defense counsel at Maxwell Air Force Base, AL; Kunsan Air Base, South Korea; and Bolling Air Force Base, DC. In 2009, Adam transferred from Active Duty to the Air Force Reserve while accepting a position in the Social Security Administration’s Office of the General Counsel, where he worked on civil rights and equal access issues concerning Social Security beneficiaries.

In early 2011, Adam volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In Afghanistan, Adam served as the Officer in Charge of Investigations and Chief Legal Advisor at the Detention Facility in Parwan, the central detention facility for insurgent fighters captured in Afghanistan. During his deployment, Adam led a team of intelligence analysts and Army CID investigators tasked with investigating each of the almost 3,000 Al Qaeda, Taliban and Haqqani network fighters detained at the facility.

Adam is married to Melody Cook, an analyst with the Office of Naval Research and a high school basketball coach. Melody is a former missionary who has served on extended missions trips to Guatemala, Thailand and Morocco. Adam and Melody met through Adam’s sister Jordyn, who came to know Melody while both were in Discipleship Training School in Hawaii. Adam and Melody enjoy an active family and civic life, participating in sports, family get togethers, and their church community.
